Letterman Makes Paris Hilton "Sad"

Ex-con/socialite Paris Hilton appeared on "Late Show With David Letterman" last night -- and is sorry she did! The sardonic TV host harassed Hilton about her summer stay in the pokey -- and she wasn't having any of it.

At one point during the interview, an audience member screamed, "I love you Paris!" Letterman quipped, "Is that somebody you met in prison?" Ha! As the crowd erupted in laughter, Paris paused and said, "I didn't come here to talk about this. That was a long time ago. Now you're making me sad that I came."

Letterman then apologized and had Paris purring again.

1. Stop writing about her, she is so last year. Nobody cares anymore.

2. Keep up the good work, Paris --You're turning your life around for the better!!

3. She did her official interview about it on Larry King - so Letterman may have been jealous he did not get the first interview.

But before agreeing to do an interview - top stars usually tell the producers or hosts what topic they do NOT want to talk about.

4. #3 is so correct. They say what they will not speak about and I find it difficult to think that this would not be an obvious subject he would want to speak about. How could she not know this???? I think it was all "staged" to feel "sorry" for Paris.

5. While Paris Hilton creates a diversion from some of the horrible news headlines of the day, her self-effacing routine is only outdone by her incredible ability to market a product with so little to offer! Her trip to whatever PC nation she is planning a "goodwill" trip to better watch out. The poor local people of that country will only be background players for Paris' road trip. Could this trip be an audition tape for her next solo "Simple Life" project or just another collection of insipid sound-bytes with no relevance to the country's plight but only to put the marketing-machine back in the limelight where she will be able to command higher attendance fees at those oh-so-chic parties!

6. She's such an attention whore who is she kidding?

7. haha, letterman is so funny. what the frook? is Paris crazy?? that wasn't a LONG time ago, it was just a few months ago, duh! maybe in her mind, it was, because she is such an instant gratification woman. and Miss Universe, you have no idea what you are writing about, these celebs can't just censor anything and always expect a host (especially Letterman) to NOT ask questions. what he quipped was nothing compared to Sarah Silverman. Paris is a scrawny, not even "has been" (she never was anything to begin with) not even attractive, her hair looks dumb, she is probably thinking she looks like Princess Diana, which she will never be in a million years. She just has a lot of money, that's all.

8. Let's all have a good laugh about Letterman's triple by-pass surgery. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! What a jerk!!!

9. The girl is stupid, talentless and has no sense of humor. Otherwise she would have had a ready quip for Mr. Letterman. Another golden opportunity wasted ... why does she bother?

10. I saw this last night. He really put things into perspective in his own way. She is a complete no talent and he exploited the fact that she thinks people take her serious.

11. Paris is right. Nobody likes to have past mistakes continually shoved in their face. And everybody has made mistakes in their life. The difference is that she made some high-profile mistakes, but keep in mind that she's still very young. You can't expect her to act as though she's 35. She's gonna party some - but I would be surprised if she parties to the tune that she did before her incarceration. From what I've read, it wasn't the jail that scared her straight (so to speak) - it was input from her family.

She probably agreed to do the interview because she wants to show that she's trying to change. And Letterman's crusty old butt stayed true to form & did what all crusty old butts do: dwell on the past.

12. oh puh-leeze!!!! she's such a manipulative whore. SHE goes to jail for breaking the law and she tries to make LETTERMAN feel badly? give me a break. hasn't she ever watched the show? what did she think he was going to do?

13. She thinks that a few months is a LONG TIME AGO??? Hell the only reason he had her on the show was because she went to jail. She has now other redeeming or interesting qualities about herself so why would she think otherwise. Bitch needs to realize she is only in the spotlight because of her drunken antics, porn video, jail time, and Daddy's money. Dave had every right to joke about her...he is a comedian and it is his show!! I didnt think he was too harsh on her...he could have pushed it MUCH further. But poor (bad choice of words, sorry) sad little Paris was gonna cry cuz he hurt her feelings, get over it bitch.

14. What WAS she there to discuss? Her great humanitarian works? Just curious.

15. What has Paris Hilton ever done that's worthy of even the slightest bit of attention?

She was Letterman's guest, and he was rude to her, but she leaves herself wide open for disrespect.
